Lens Hood – selfmade

The original Lens Hood from my Canon EF 400mm 2,8 m is quite to big and havy to have it all the time with me. Special if i travel by plane and i need to have all my camera gear in my hand luggage, space and weight is important. Therefore i builded a light and small Lens Hood out of cellular rubber.
It is easy to open and close by some Velcro fastener tapes. As material i used two layers of 3mm cellular rubber, but you can also use a single layer. I recommend ~5mm to 6mm for a good stability. As clue you can use any kind of contact clue like Patex or similar.

Additional i clued on some more Velcro fastener, now im more flexible and can use the Lens Hood as well for my EF 70-200mm or 100-400mm.

Picture 1-6 Version 1, Picture 2-15 i create a second one with overlaping ends what fits much better.
